Your Privacy & Safety

Trust is the foundation of our work together. Part of building that trust is being completely transparent about how your information is handled. In line with the BACP Ethical Framework, our sessions are confidential; however, there are a few professional and legal boundaries to this that ensure both your safety and the quality of my practice.

Professional Supervision

To ensure I am providing you with the best possible support, I participate in regular clinical supervision. This is a standard requirement for all professional therapists.

  • The Goal: My supervisor helps me see alternative perspectives and ensures I am working in your best interest.

  • Your Privacy: Your identity is always kept anonymous. If I record our sessions for my professional development, the audio is used solely for the purpose of my supervision, stored securely, and deleted promptly.

Exceptions to Confidentiality

While it is rare, I may have a legal or ethical obligation to share information with a third party if I believe there is a significant risk of harm. These specific circumstances include:

  • Safety & Safeguarding: If there is a serious concern for your safety or the safety of another person, especially if a child or vulnerable adult is involved.

  • Legal Duty: If I am legally required to disclose information regarding a serious crime or if I receive a formal court order.

  • Public Protection: In the very rare event of a serious and imminent threat to public health or national security.

Our Collaborative Approach

I value our therapeutic relationship above all. Unless prevented by an emergency or legal restriction, I will always strive to talk to you first and seek your consent before sharing any information with outside agencies. My priority is to support you while keeping you, and others, safe.
